I'm Jacob Gordon. I'm an entrepreneur, strategist, manager, marketer, fundraiser, advisor, and nonprofit board member.
I started my career as an environmental journalist before going into technology, serving as co-founder and Chief Marketing Officer of Artiphon, a pioneering music technology company. In support of my Brooklyn community I worked as the Development and Communications Director at The B.R.O. Experience Foundation, a new non-profit specializing in innovative mental wellness services for economically marginalized young men of color.
I also have experience in green real estate development, working with my family’s firm that owns and operates The Distillery in Boston, one of the city’s main artist live/work locations and one of the first multi-family Passive House developments in the country.
I occasionally do journalistic and academic writing, most recently publishing a chapter in a book from the SCORAI group on Routledge Press on the links between mindfulness and environmentally sustainable behaviors.
I recently completed a Master’s in Public Administration (think MBA for the public sector) at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. I have a BA in sociology from Bard College and I studied business in the Bard MBA in Sustainability program (Princeton Review’s #1 MBA for green business and nonprofit management).
I was in the inaugural cohort of the Inner Development Goals Ambassador Program and attend the Summer Research Institute hosted by the Mind & Life Institute (co-founded by the Dalai Lama).
In a previous incarnation I played country music in Nashville. I love making photographs (mostly portraiture, but feel free to ask me about this project), Buddhist practice (mostly Zen), and books on all manner of things.
A professional profile is here, my resume and academic coursework is here, you can reach me via LinkedIn and email.
I live in Boston with my partner Inès, and I try to make it to NYC and Los Angeles as often as I can.
